From a nuclear engineer in Ukraine to a homeless refugee in Berlin — and ultimately, to becoming part of the queer community.
After war, violence, and an almost twelve-day journey on foot through the Carpathian Mountains, Yevhen was forced to leave his former life behind. In Berlin, he initially lived in the refugee accommodation centers in Tegel and Tempelhof, without a space of his own and, for a long time, without a sense of security.
How do you find the courage, after all that, to trust again, live openly as a gay man, and build a new life?
