Yanni grew up in Syria as part of the Christian minority and often felt excluded. A job opportunity and a relationship brought him to Germany — but shortly after his arrival, he lost his job, his partner, and his home. Suddenly homeless, he had to find creative ways to survive. On his tour, Yanni shares his experiences of challenges, hope, and the importance of community.
As a member of the Christian minority in Syria, Yanni often felt like he did not truly belong. Dreaming of a different future, he hoped to leave the country after university. When he met his German girlfriend online and later received a job opportunity in Germany, it seemed like the beginning of a new life.
But shortly after arriving, everything fell apart: the job, the relationship, and eventually his housing situation. Without a stable home and with little support, Yanni found himself navigating daily life in survival mode.
Falling through the cracks of the social system, Yanni had to find his own solutions to his many daily struggles as a person without a home. He got creative to find a place to sleep, eat, keep warm or have WiFi.
Follow him through the city to learn about these struggles and solutions and the importance of finding a community to belong into.
