The city tour starts at Karl-Marx-Str. subway station, goes through Rixdorf, and ends on Sonnenallee.

Never once did Mohamad Khalil imagine that he one day would be living in Berlin instead of in Syria, which he left fleeing Aleppo in 2015 on account of the war. With his help the participants learn about the history of migrants in Neukölln, a district in which  Mohamad feels particularly at home. During the tour it becomes clear that people from many different countries already started settling here in the 18th century. Mohamad’s intention is to connect the general facts to his own personal account of how he managed to flee and arrive in Berlin.

Participants are encouraged to ask questions touching on topics such as leaving one’s home and first experiences in Germany and also to share their own relevant experiences.
